2010's Atelier Z BabyZ-4J bass in Transparent White (TP-WH) with matching headstock.
Atelier Z is a small Tokyo workshop founded in 1989—essentially solely run by luthier Hiroyoshi Motohashi, who hand-assembles each instrument. Despite the scale, the brand has been a fixture among Japan's top session and touring bassists for decades.
Given the above, it shouldn't be a surprise that the BabyZ is one of the best short-scale basses available. The build quality is excellent, and the slim satin neck is a joy to play. You can get a ton of different tones with the active boost preamp (push-pull toggle for passive mode). The custom Hipshot bridge allows for both string through and top loading.
I imported this bass for myself, but I'm doing some spring cleaning…which I will probably regret.
100% original and fully functional.
Set up with 45-105 strings, playing well up and down the neck with proper intonation.
Includes original Atelier Z gig bag.
