Growing up, I was unfortunate enough to have been surrounded by guitars—and like most, infatuated with American and vintage instruments. One fateful day over a decade ago I played a 1990’s Fender Japan TN72 in a local shop. I could not believe how much better the neck felt than the American-made guitars I owned, and was hooked immediately.
Since then, I've been obsessed with FujiGen-era Fender Japan custom order models—going through countless magazine pages, catalogs, and archived websites.
I've tracked down, documented, and passed along hundreds of these instruments because I love them.

FAQ
“Order Made” and “Order”
FujiGen “Order Made” instruments—a continuation from the original 1970’s Greco production methodology—designated non-catalog/custom orders. This system was integrated with normal factory production work, with prioritization of parts being pulled off the normal production line to fulfill requests, with minimal disruption to maintain efficiency.
Most were ordered in very limited quantities Japanese guitars shops in to increase foot traffic and sales for specific locations.
A very small number of these are truly one-off instruments ordered by a shop or individual. Handwriting in the pocket sometimes denotes a one-off order, while numbered stamps are runs of multiple instruments.
The “Order Made” stamps were quickly succeeded by the various “K”, “Y”, etc prefixes—but the system effectively remained the same.
“Non-catalog” generally refers to a limited edition model with higher production numbers, lacking a shop-specific order stamp.

Every instrument is inspected and verified using serial numbers, warranty cards, neck pocket stamps, pot dates, and other details specific to Fender Japan—knowledge gained first hand from 500+ Fender Japan instruments and a continuously updated reference database of unique order models.
