Circa 2001 Fender Japan non-catalog order JG66-120BJ Jaguar in black with matching headstock, simplified "Fender®"-only decal, ebony fretboard, and gunmetal hardware. This incredibly rare order model is one of two known factory “blacked-out” JG66s with gunmetal appointments (compared to the stop tail equipped JGS-78 and JGB-95 models from the early 2000s).

Also one of the only instruments produced with an ebony fretboard (besides the early 1990s non-catalog “115 WAL” suffix walnut instruments produced by FujiGen).

Lastly (and strangely), it is also the only model with factory painted pickup covers. (To my knowledge, the first Japanese Jaguar featuring black plastic covers wasn’t produced until after the dissolution Fender Japan, Ltd.—the 2022 Ishibashi “IS-22” Jaguar shop order with gold anodized pickguard.)

I’ve estimated this order (DK-348) was produced in 2001, based on the warranty card date for order DK-354, which was December 2001.

Ultimately a unique piece of Fender Japan's history, with only a few examples surfacing for sale in the past decade. (Many additional photos available on my website, as the 25 photo limit has been hit for this listing.)

100% fully functional.

Set up with D'Addario 10-46 strings, playing well up and down the neck with proper intonation.

Includes new Fender TSA locking case, warranty card, and original gunmetal vibrato arm.

Condition

Cosmetically the 25+ year old instrument is in very good shape, with various minor dings, chips, scratches and finish wear. Black finish has typical superficial scratches from normal use. Abrasion on bottom contour near input jack.

Gunmetal hardware has patina/oxidation, and is nearly completely worn through on the rhythm control plate and vibrato. Pickguard has pick scratches.

Frets have essentially no wear. Back of the neck is clean with a few nearly imperceptible dings/scratches.
