1993 Fender Japan TL52-117 Extrad Custom Edition '52 Telecaster in Vintage Natural (VNT) finish. These were the highest-specification vintage reissue Telecaster offered in the catalog at the time—sporting a full nitro lacquer finish, 2-piece light ash body, one-piece maple neck, and USA-made pickups/hardware (including the 5-digit serial USA bridge).
This specific example has been played, for good reason: it's resonant, sports a slightly wider nut, and has a full oval "C/U" neck profile with rounded shoulders (compared to the typical Extrad "V" profile).
Manufactured at the FujiGen factory in Japan. Pots are dated 1993 (roughly one year before the Extrad line was discontinued). Customer order ("C.ORDER") number KM-375.
100% fully functional.
Fender Japan Extrad
In 1986, Fender Japan introduced the Extrad line (“extra traditional”), which was essentially their take on "neo" vintage. As stated alongside the collection's first appearance in the catalog, “[It is] not accurate to call them vintage replicas or ornate models. They were born from a bold system of limited and small batch production, embodying a more luxurious Fender craftsmanship. It's best to avoid comparing the high-priced vintage Fenders that sit in music shop windows with the EXTRADs. Judging solely by appearance wouldn't reveal the true charm of this model.“
Note: This specific instrument sports the Custom Edition decal on the back of the headstock, as there was marketing overlap between the two lines during this time.
Set up with D'Addario 10-46 strings, playing well up and down the neck with proper intonation.
Includes vintage Fender tweed hard case in fair condition (one latch pops open).
