This is a first—an order model of a limited edition instrument—the 1992 Fender Japan TLG-110LS 10th anniversary Telecaster. The most obvious difference is the black finish, yet it retains the iconic two-piece burled mahogany body found on the catalog version.

Other differences include a plain grain neck, no "Custom Edition" headstock stamp, plain neck plate, and a trio of Fender Lace Sensor Silver pickups. All other aspects, including the “V” neck profile and TBX circuit, are identical. Perhaps it was intended to be a minimalist version of the James Burton signature “Upgrade” Telecaster, introduced by Fender USA the year prior (which the TLG-110LS was clearly based off of).

This is the only example I have seen for this order number/color, making it a great collection piece.

Manufactured at the Fujigen factory in Japan. "L" serial prefix; pots dated 1991. Order "K-241"; "K" prefix denotes Kanda Shokai custom order.

100% fully functional.

Set up with D'Addario 10-46 strings, playing well up and down the neck with proper intonation.

Includes Fender Japan gig bag.

What are Fender Japan "Order Made"/"Order" instruments?
The FujiGen "Order Made" system—a continuation from Greco production—designated non-catalog/custom orders. This system was integrated with normal factory production work, with prioritization of parts being pulled off the normal production line to fulfill requests, with minimal disruption to maintain efficiency. It was quickly succeeded by the "Order", "K", "Y", etc prefix stamps, but the system effectively remained the same. Handwriting in the pocket sometimes denotes a one-off order, while numbered stamps are runs of multiple instruments.

Condition

Cosmetically the 34 year old instrument is in very good shape, with various minor dings, scratches, and finish wear commensurate with age. Clear coat has yellowed with age. Gold hardware has patina and scratches. Minor neck pocket finish crack on bass side. Finish crack at binding on treble side horn. Expected superficial finish hazing/scratches on a vintage BLK finish.

Frets have have been leveled in the recent past, and have essentially no wear. (No divots/buzzing/etc.) Fretboard has fingernail markings on the first few frets from play. A few minor finish chips on fretboard. Wear through finish on treble side shoulder on the high frets. A few minor dings on the back of the neck.
