1989 Fender Japan TL52-750 Order Made in See-Through Black (SBK) with gold hardware. SBK is one of the rarest custom colors, only available as a finish on a single catalog model (the JBR active Jazz Bass) between 1990–1994. Despite the name, it is translucent mocha in appearance.

Manufactured at the FujiGen factory. Order number KO-046, commissioned by Kanda Shokai. Original pots dated 1989.

Set up with D'Addario 10-46 strings, and plays well up and down the neck with proper intonation.

Includes vintage Japanese gig bag.

Condition

The 35+ year old instrument is in good shape with various minor dings, scratches, chips and finish wear commensurate with age. Gold hardware has patina. Pickguard and neck pickup cover have pick markings/scratches. The thin neck finish has chipped/flaked off in places, primarily between the 7th and 9th frets.

Frets have some wear, and appear to have been leveled sometime in the past. There are no divots/fretting out/buzzing/etc. Back of neck has a handful of minor dings.

Modifications

- Bridge pickup (USA) and dome knobs likely replacements (It is possible the bridge pickup is original, and a "TL-Current" was used for the neck due it being the only offering with a gold cover.)
